Safaree ran toward the car to retrieve the umbrella for him and Nicki.
Her make-up was slowly beginning to run. It was raining heavily. Nicki smoothed
out her skirt as she waited for Safaree. People began to make their way in, and
the last thing Nicki needed was to be trapped in the crowd and forced to wait
in the rain. She looked over at Safaree who was jogging towards her with the
umbrella over his head. He made his way over to her and placed the umbrella
over the both of them.
“Thank you”
People began to file in a line as they made their way to the door.
Nicki and Safaree, unfortunately, was close to the end.
Nicki stomped her foot and looked down at her watch.
“Its 2:30 and the interview starts at 3:30”
She looked up at a determined Safaree who wasn’t even listening to her.
They had tried dating once but it ended on bad terms. Their
relationship was close, but as of now, they weren’t really talking unless it
had to do with business. Nicki rolled her eyes at him ignoring her. She hated
that they weren’t speaking to each other like they normally did, but now wasn’t
the time to fix their problems.
“Chill… I’m sure we’ll make it”
“Sure…? No, see, that’s not good enough. I need to make that interview”
“We’ll make it, don’t worry”
He rolled his eyes and Nicki saw this. If they weren’t in front of all
these people, he would be getting cursed out.
“We better make it…” Nicki threatened as she crossed her arms over her
chest along with a pout.
“Can we move any faster?”
Nicki held onto Safaree’s wrist tightly as they made their way into the
building. Nicki stood on the heel of her shoes so that she could see over the
large line of people.
“Why are there so many people?” Nicki thought. She was becoming fed up.
The line was slowly moving along.
Nicki looked to the side of her to see a crowd of people beginning to
fill the space on the outside of the gate.
Nicki could hear some yelling coming from the front of the large line
of people. Dream and Hush stood in front of her and her glam squad behind her.
Even if it seemed like they were moving quickly, they were still ways away from
the entrance.
She tapped Dream on the shoulder and he turned his head toward her
slightly.
“Can we speed this up a little?”
“We’re trying. There was a problem with the lighting inside the
building from the storm”
Nicki nodded then asked,
“Well is there any way we could get up front?”
He looked over all the people before looking back at Nicki.
“Yeah, just follow me”
Dream made a way for them to get through and up to the front entrance.
“Miss Minaj, you’re room is down the hall and to your left. We’re
really sorry for the wait”
The stage manager said as he walked them to her dressing room. When
they arrived, the stage manager handed Nicki her time for her interview since
it was rescheduled because of the storm.
“We still have an hour and a half
to chill”
Terrance said as he sat back in
the leather couch in the corner with his feet propped up on the coffee table.
“Can someone walk with me down
the elevators?”
“The bathrooms are on the 1st
floor, Nicki”
Nicki looked at her like she was
crazy. They were on the 9th floor and the bathrooms on the 1st.
“Safaree, can you come with me?”
He nodded.
We made our way around the corner
where the elevators were. Safaree pressed the ‘down’ button and waited for the
next available elevator.
Once they heard the ‘ding’ of the
elevator, Safaree let Nicki enter first. Nicki hummed along to elevator music,
but jumped when she heard the loud thunder. She moved closer to Safaree.
Nicki took a deep breath before
closing her eyes and hummed along to the elevator music that was weirdly
comforting her. Nicki peeked over at Safaree who was focused on the numbers
that were counting down every few seconds.
Nicki then moved down to his
muscular arms. She cracked a small smile as she remembered all the times he
used to hold her. She broke from her thoughts when the lights flickered. Nicki
whimpered and moved closer to Safaree.
The small clock like gadget on
the wall of the elevator began to light random numbers. Nicki looked around and
bit her lip. Her heart began to race as she realized that they could die.
“Safaree….”
He looked over at her. He heard
the fear in her voice. He couldn’t lie, he was afraid himself. Even though they
were on bad terms, he still had the urge to protect her.
“Shh, just calm down, I’m sure
nothing bad will happen”
They were only on the 4th
floor. Nicki whimpered a little louder as the lights flickered on and off once
again.
“Safareeeee, do something!” Nicki
whined.
“What do you want me to do?” He
asked as the elevator came to a halt and the lights went out.
It was nothing but darkness.
Nicki could feel Safaree’s body heat next to her so she scooted closer to him.
He held her and Nicki placed her head on his chest. He missed this. He missed
her in general. It was hard to ignore his feelings for her. Nicki looked up at
him even though she could barely see his eyes she knew he was looking back down
at her.
Nicki brought her hand up and
touched his lips before replacing her hand with her lips. Safaree tensed up
before kissing her back. Nicki got a little caught up in the moment and
deepened the kiss, placing her hands on his neck.
Nicki fluttered her eyes open and
they grew as she realized what had just happened. She pulled away and scooted
to the other end of the elevator, her knees up against her chest.
“Nicki…”
“I’m sorry” She apologized. She
wasn’t sorry for kissing him. She honestly didn’t know what she was sorry for.
That was the best kiss of her life, as so was for Safaree.
He sighed as slowly scooted
closer to her, but the closer he moved, Nicki moved away keeping a good amount
of distance between them.
“Nicki stop!”
Safaree gently grabbed her arm
and brought her back to him.
“You don’t have to be sorry”
Nicki looked at him even thought
they could barely see each other.
“Yes I do. I shouldn’t have
kissed you”
Safaree sighed and pulled her to
him and sat her on his lap. He had his back against the wall with Nicki
straddling him.
“I missed you” He said as he
planted kisses on her neck. Nicki closed her eyes with her head tilted back.
“I missed you too” she moaned.
Nicki held the back of his head as he placed kisses down her collar bone.
He didn’t go too much farther
because of the situation they were in. He would have if the lights weren’t out.
Not trying to make too much movement Nicki slowly moved off of him.
She laid her head on his shoulder
and spoke:
“But we both know it won’t work”
“Why”
“Because, we both love each other
one day, and the next we hate each other. We fight, you leave. It’s a routine”
“But it doesn’t have to be that
way. Let me take care of you” He held her hand, “I promise it will be better
this time” He looked over at her.
Nicki squeezed his hand slightly
and sighed, “I guess, but don’t fuck up this time” He smiled and his lips
collided with Nicki’s. Nicki released a moan when their tongues wrestled.
Safaree pulled away quickly when
the screen on the left shelf came on and a lady’s face filled the small screen.
“Hello?”
“Um, hello, yeah, we’re stuck in
this elevator”
“I know that sir, we’re getting
help now. Are you the only person in there?”
“No, my girlfriend also”
Nicki smiled when he said
‘girlfriend’.
“Okay, they should be there in
the next five minutes” The lady informed them before her face left the screen
and it shut off. Now, once again, it was completely dark…
The door opened with a loud
screech. A man that looked as if he worked for the fire department walked into
the elevator. The light from the hall shined in. Nicki saw her team behind the
4 men.
“Is everyone okay?”
His deep voice filled the
elevator.
“Yes” Nicki and Safaree said in
unison.
“Well you guys are free to exit
now. You can take the elevator up the hall to the first floor. Miss Minaj,
you’re interview was rescheduled. They will call with the details soon” Nicki
smiled and thanked the man.
Nicki drew in a breath as she was
finally out of the elevator. Martin walked over to them, the rest of the team
following.
“So ya’ll asses got stuck in an
elevator?” He tried to hold in his laugh.
Nicki rolled her eyes, “Can we
go?” She was still holding Safaree’s hand, their fingers intertwined.
“Ya’ll seem close” Joyce said
referring to them holding hands.
Nicki and Safaree looked at each
other, “That’s what couples do right…? Hold hands…”
They all looked at them with
shocked faces, “Let’s go because, I need a drink” They group proceeded their
way down the hallway and over to the other elevator as they reminisced on old
times.
